When A Daughter-In-Law Earned Heaven
A long time ago, in the neighborhood where we lived, I would occasionally encounter a woman belonging to an Indian Hindu family on the way and we would talk a little while walking. Her husband was an administrator at a local temple because she could barely read or write and spoke in her own way. Once she started telling me that at night my Nand (from another state) had called and told her to take her mother (ie her mother-in-law) and keep her with her for a few days.
I told her we don't drive and your brother is busy in the temple day and night. Mom will come and tell me to take her to the store. Let's go shopping. Take me for a walk. Take me to the park. Then how will all this happen? Now keep the mother with you. Nand says that this cannot happen. Mother will have to take you people to her. Then they left and went away. Later, once their child came to us from work, he told us that his grandmother had come to stay with us and that Mimi was very upset.
Now, of course, there will be some talk that even the daughter was bored. However, for the first time we were saddened to hear that the time has come for the daughter-in-law not to be ready to bear the mother. And it is well known among the people that in old age only one daughter takes care of them and accompanies them. The son becomes estranged after marriage, so this is not so true. We know that old sick helpless mothers or fathers are lying in bed while only a daughter-in-law and a son are serving and caring for them.
The daughters come under the pretext of being sick and the front door is closed in the parents' room and they do not even drink water, then the same poor daughter-in-law becomes busy in their orbits. There are greedy and selfish daughters who do not even wait for the death of their mother and in her own life they wipe their hands on her jewelery, clothes and valuables, leaving the sons and daughters-in-law in the house staring.
Another example of daughter-in-law's self-sacrifice impressed us. It also relates to an Indian Muslim family. Someone came with a family on an immigrant visa. The parents went on a visit visa and sponsored all the siblings after getting citizenship. By the time their parents died and their mother had had a leg amputated due to diabetes, she was unable to come to the United States. Then all the siblings came here with their children but a son and daughter-in-law living with the mother left them in this condition and refused to come to America. And, of course, most of the credit goes to the daughter-in-law, who said that serving and caring for her mother was more valuable to her than a US visa.
And informed the authorities of the situation and requested an extension of the visa call, which was granted. Then, four years later, when the mother died, the couple returned with their children after completing the rest of the process. Now tell me, is there such a daughter-in-law or not? The United States was more important to him than anyone else. We say that not every daughter-in-law is as bad as it is supposed to be and not every daughter is as good as she has been made famous for. Now if we start writing more about this, it will be difficult to finish this article.
Do you think that all our experience is limited to the ignorance, hypocrisy, selfishness, selfish injustices and conspiratorial environment found in the lower and middle class families? We always write about it. But what can we do? Apart from what we have heard, we have seen so much with our own eyes that it is unwittingly written down.
